EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS IN RENEWABLE ENERGY

TO BE SHOWCASED AT RENEW 09: EMPOWERING THE LAND CONFERENCE AND EXPO

RENEW 09: Empowering the Land Conference and Expo, to be held in Tucumcari, New Mexico on June 23 -24, 2009, will highlight and feature many new and exciting developments in renewable energy. Designed as a “nuts and bolts” conference for anyone looking to prosper from the emerging renewable energy economy, the 2-day conference will feature major industry thought leaders, top governmental officials and landowners sharing best-practices for developing facility-scale and utility-scale renewable energy projects. The goal of the conference and expo is to “empower” attendees with the knowledge and connections to be proactive in the development of renewable energy projects. Wind, solar, water, and other alternative renewable energy sources will be highlighted during the two-day event.

“We have developed exciting programs and content for our RENEW 09 attendees that is solution-based and actionable. Our sessions and panels will discuss wind energy, solar energy, landowner associations, rural electric cooperatives, transmission, and even new geothermal technology to create electricity from hot, dry rock on the earth’s crust.” said David Griscom, Clean Energy Program Manager with the Regional Development Corporation, and committee chair for programming for RENEW 09. “If someone is wants to get involved in renewable energy, this conference is the place to be.”

Building on the success from 2008, this year the conference will offer a two-day Renewable Energy Expo, where attendees can meet companies, government agencies, and economic development organizations that are providing products, services, and funding to renewable energy development.  Attendees can network with hundreds of colleagues who are leasing land to wind or solar development, schools that have installed wind turbines on their school grounds, and businesses that are reaping economic rewards from solar installations on their roofs. Attendees will also be able to tour a 1.5 MW wind turbine installed on a community college campus, and learn how the workforce is being trained to service these large wind turbines. Attendees will also get the opportunity to learn about the latest in state and federal incentives for homeowners and businesses, and discover how the Southwest region is positioned to be a national leader in renewable energy development.

The City of Tucumcari and the Greater Tucumcari Economic Development Corporation (GTEDC) are hosting RENEW 09 which will be held at the Tucumcari Convention Center in Tucumcari, New Mexico on June 23 – 24, 2009. Sponsors for the event to date include the City of Tucumcari, the North American Wind Research & Training Center/Mesalands Community College, the Regional Development Corporation, PlateauTel, Xcel Energy, and the Sustainable Technology Center/Santa Fe Community College.

Tucumcari is ranch country and located in the center of the eastern New Mexico/west Texas wind corridor. Also as home to the new North American Wind Research and Training Center, fast becoming the premier public venue for training wind farm technicians in the country, Tucumcari is the ideal place to host this “one-of-a-kind” conference.

RENEW 09 will feature an illustrious line-up of special guests and speakers from government funding agencies, government renewable programs, renewable energy developers, energy companies, and ranchers who are successfully participating in renewable energy projects. RENEW 09 will also showcase the latest renewable energy technologies in the expo. And a first for RENEW 09, all programs will be broadcast live via the internet, enabling the entire world to virtually attend the conference.
